I'm not sure exactly what to call it. Not really AU, but just changing the story. I guess that's AU. LOL. But it's a sign of a great editor when they can take one story, mix some scenes around, and make it tell another completely different ones. Like those youtube trailers that make The Shining look like a chick flick.

So, make a video taking clips and change it to tell a completely different story.

...I'm not sure if any of that made any sense, but hopefully you know what I mean.

Oh, I thought of another one. Also not canon-based. A video about what happened between the season five finale and the beginning of season six.

ETA: Another idea: Put your ipod on shuffle and make a video to the first song that comes up. Or shuffle and pick one of the first three that come up.

Oh! I'm liking the ipod idea too. With my luck, I'm going to end up with a perfect fitting song - It's a curse I have, lol.

Basic Themes/Ideas:
+Alternative Universe
+Crossover
+SFX
+Comedy
+Angst
+Romance
+Horror/Thrillers
+Episodic

Other Ideas:
+Vid to Musical Songs
+Vid to Instrumental Songs - I think those are the best because it's a great way to show a vidders musicality
+ Children Stories - I think it would be cool to see vidders take any of the children stories (like snow white, sleeping beauty, hansel and gretel, alice in wonderland, etc...) and put it to Whedon's shows.. Where you can twist it up into a scary story, or just stick with the real stories.. (Example: Remember with Buffy dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood for one of the Halloween episodes.. That would be good way to work it into the story, "Little Red Riding Hood" and maybe use Oz as the Big bad wolf..) Just a thought..

I'll add more ideas once I think of some.

Oh my gosh that children's stories idea is AWESOME!!! Those would be some crazysexycool vids!

Musical Songs is great too. That always makes me think of Dayln's Gaston/Dean vid at SVS. That is one of my very favorite vids just for pure uniqueness and creativity.

Little Red Riding Hood has been done :) Morgan did one a couple of years ago. But I like the idea of other Fairystories.

I also love the idea of vids to songs from Musicals - I've done one already but there are plenty to choose from (I'm think old musicals like South Pacific and West Side Story)

I'm a classics fans so I love the musicals idea. Wizard of Oz would be a good one. I was listening to some big band today and thinking what a neat challenge that would be. It's hard to use music that's out of the norm for the show style.

I've found vidding musicals tend to create comedic mood.

I have done a bigband number 'It Had To Be You' sung by Harry Connick Jnr and did a light look at Cordy & Angel. The other one was from Oliver 'Food Glorious Food' a song, which set to vampires cannot be taken seriously.

Ah. Here's the great thing about challenges. You can submit previously made vids or you can create whole new vids.
